DEPARTMENTAL ORGANISATION & ARRANGEMENTS FOR MANAGING SAFETY

The following procedure and documentation is intended to assist the Head of Department to prepare and maintain their organisation and arrangements for managing safety in accordance with their Safety Responsibilities described in UCLs Organisation and Arrangements for Safety (Sect 3.1.6):

Ensure Safety Roles are assigned and recorded in the RiskNET Responsible Persons Register

Ensure responsibilities are communicated to the role holders

Validate the Repsonsible Persons Register annually
Safety Services will notify HoD when validation due

Ensure departmental arrangements for safe working are reviewed and revised

Prepare a plan for improvement to include as a minimum UCLs Health & Safety Objectives for the next academic year

The recorded departmental organisation and arrangements together with UCLs Safety Policy, Organisation and Arrangements documents represent the UCL Statement of Safety Policy as required under S 2(3) of the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974.
