Safety and Sustainability Training
›  Introduction
UCL Estates is committed to ensuring that all staff are competent to perform their role safely and that they understand the concepts of sustainability at UCL Estates. Where staff have specific safety responsibilities, there is also a requirement that those staff understand what those responsibilities are and how to fulfil them.

Training is an important tool that helps ensure staff are competent. At UCL Estates, different staff will have different competency needs depending on their role and experience. Staff have the opportunity to gain required competencies through a variety of training solutions, including:
  • e-learning
  • internal courses
  • external courses
  • coaching
  • briefings
›  e-Learning
If you are interested in a training solution which is offered via e-learning, go to directly to the
e-learning for Safety and Sustainability page. Currently, e-learning modules are available on the following topics:
  • Incidents and RiskNet - Estates Staff
  • Safety Rules for Contractors
  • Contruction Phase Plans
  • CSCS Card Process
  • Scaffolding Standard
  • Fire Safety for Project Management
  • SKA Assessments
  • Incident Investigation
  • Asbestos Awareness

›   Training on specific topics
You might also find any training information you are looking for by going to the particular topic on the Safety and Sustainability Topics page. If you see the training icon (shown on the left) on any page, this indicates training or competency information for that particular topic.

›  Competencies and Performance Appraisals
Deciding on and planning which training to undertake is an integral part of professional development. During the performance appraisal process, you should discuss with your manager what required competencies you currently have and set future training objectives to fill any gaps.

To help with this process, UCL Estates uses a Competency Solutions - Tool for Managers. It helps staff and managers to quickly see the types of training relevant to their role and that will contribute towards improving competency.
